| Are the candles made
with beeswax? |
 |
Yes, the beeswax we use is strained and
beached with hydrogen peroxide, which allows the wax to transport
the essential oils to the wick. We have experimented with raw
natural wax and have found that this wax, although more natural, is
a poor vehicle for the essential oil. In order for the candle to
burn properly the wax has to be filtered and cleaned so that the wax
will flow through the wick and burn completely and cleanly. |
| How long will they burn? |
 |
If the wicks are trimmed every time
they are lit, and they are burned in a draught free place, they
should burn for 36 hours. Please keep wick debris out
of the wax pool. |
| Why are they in glass
jars? |
 |
Mainly for safety reasons, but also for
health. Even a clean burning beeswax candle will exhaust soot when
extinguished. Even though candle smoke is sometimes interesting to
watch, and romantic to some, it is still soot. Over time soot builds
up on your furnishings, and your lungs. Close the lid while the
candle is burning and clamp closed. You will be able to see the
buildup of soot on the lid. It is better there than on your curtains
or your lungs.
The heat poof canning jars containing our candles will not allow
dripping wax to ruin furnishings, and if the candle does burn to the
wick holder, they will not break. Please do not leave any candle
unattended however, it is a flammable product. Children and pets
should be monitored around them as well. Try to not position a
burning candle where a happy pet’s tail can sweep them to the
floor. |
| What is the wick made
of? |
 |
Since we are aware of the lead in wicks
we use only wicks with zinc centers. In mid 2001 we will be
converting to paper wicks. |
| Are they available in
all of your scents? |
 |
Not all of our scents are available,
only the most popular ones. |
