FAQ Powder Puffs
| Why are the powder puffs
different sizes and shades of white? |
Our powder puffs are made from the pelts
of sheep raised in New Zealand. Since the sheep are shorn long before
their pelts are snatched from them, and all hair grows at different
rates, some have longer hair [wool]. Hence, even though the disk of
leather cut from the back of the pelt the puffs are made from are
always cut the same circumference, the length of the wool will vary.
Some people actually want the smaller puffs to fit their hands, or
to fit in a powder bowl. [Antique cut or pressed glass bowls make
stunning containers]. Also, in the cleaning process, some of the pelts
turn out a lovely ivory while others are stark white.
We have no control over these processes, however if you have specific
requirements we can try to accommodate your wishes. |
