"Woodspirits
makes 23 to 27
different brands of herbal soap,
depending on customer demand
and Bobo's latest brainwave"
"Barbara Bobo
is no threat to Proctor & Gamble.
The herbal soap business only took off in 1988
when she took samples of her homemade-for-home-use
soaps around to natural product stores in the
San Francisco area.
Out there, herbal anything is big business.
It was soon more than Bobo could handle in her
chicken coop, so she contracted out much of the
soapmaking to four other backyard operations
for whom she provides training, formulas,
exotic flavorings, packaging and FAXed orders.
She has manufacturers in the U.K. and Canada and ships
internationally as well." |
